A Nice, Short Story of a Day in SF

After a typical weekend day spent exploring the city, I boarded the bus from Golden Gate Bridge to begin my long journey back home from SF to the South Bay. I had to get off at Daly City, take a BART train to Millbrae, then transfer to a Caltrain for a while before another transfer to a bus before a final 10-minute walk home. Public transportation isn’t the Bay Area’s (or America’s) forte but I’ve already ranted about that earlier.

Instead for today, I want to talk about an encounter I had with a nice gentleman on this journey. He was headed to the South Bay as well. So he became my companion for most of this journey.

We don’t interact much with strangers in public these days. We lean towards assuming the worse (they’re trying to steal my money, what if they scam me, Why are you talking to me? What do you want?) and not for the wrong reasons. This experience would be an exception, it shows that that’s not true for all strangers. There are good people out there. Read on…

It was approx. 4 in the evening, I board the 28 bus from Golden Gate Bridge to head towards Daly City. It was time to head home.
